Uzbekistan is ramping up basalt fiber production output

The third stage of the manufacturing facility which produces basalt fiber and basalt fiber-based products is preparing for launch.

The output of basalt fiber and basalt fiber composites produced by Mega Invest Industrial JV will ramp up with the launch of the third stage.

While in 2018, the facility produced one thousand ton of basalt fiber, after commissioning the third stage, provided the company works at full capacity, it will reach a capacity of four thousand tons of basalt fiber and 4.8 thousand tons of basalt fiber composites per year.

Currently, Mega Invest Industrial supplies the market with basalt roving, basalt plastic rebar, basalt mash and chopped basalt fiber (fiber).

The facility was set up in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region (Uzbekistan) in 2017 raising $ 11 million investments from Leigh Borrier (UK) and taking out $ 26 million loan from the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan.

According to the company’s website, two production lines operating at the only basalt facility in the Central Asia have already entered into operation.

Armenia is heavily involved in implementing basalt fiber and basalt fiber-based composites, where manufacturing facilities have also been established.
